SE Ranking is the most established vendor in the directory. The platform was founded in 2012 (some sources say 2014), serves more than 800,000 users globally, and reported roughly $35M in revenue with 237 employees across the UK, US (Miami), Poland and Ukraine as of 2024. The company's response to the GEO category is SE Visible — an AI Visibility module bundled into every paid plan, with deeper capabilities unlocked at higher tiers.

For buyers, the structural distinction matters: this is not a category-native GEO tool the way Profound, Peec or Otterly are. It's a mature SEO suite that has added LLM tracking into an existing rank-tracking and content-research workflow. The tradeoff is breadth at the platform level versus depth at the GEO-specific level.

What it does well

The clearest strength is the integration with traditional SEO workflows. A team running keyword research, rank tracking, backlink analysis, on-page audits and content briefs already inside SE Ranking does not need to buy a separate GEO tool — AI Visibility tracking is a new module in the same dashboard, with the same projects, the same domains, and the same reporting integrations (Looker Studio, Matomo, GA, GSC).

The AI Visibility Tracker itself covers five engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Gemini. Tracking is daily by default. The module produces:

  • Citation dynamics over time across each engine.
  • Brand mention tracking with and without site links.
  • Source ranking — which third-party domains the engine cites most when answering category prompts (the equivalent of Peec's "power sources").
  • AIO-driven traffic estimates and ranking position within generated responses.
  • AI Competitor Research showing how often a competitor's domain is cited and which prompts favor them.
  • Sentiment and tone analysis on brand mentions.

User reviews are the strongest in the directory: 4.8/5 across 1,432 reviews on G2 and 4.7/5 on Capterra. Ease of use scores 9.3/10 on G2 (notably higher than Semrush's 8.4); customer support is 9.4/10. Rank tracking accuracy scores 9.4/10 — and the same infrastructure underpins AI Visibility tracking.

The 14-day free trial requires no credit card, which removes the usual friction of evaluating a multi-module suite.

What it doesn't

The biggest gap is engine breadth. SE Visible covers five engines as of May 2026, but it does not currently track Claude, Grok, Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek or Meta AI. For a buyer focused on the developer/technical answer-engine ecosystem (where Claude and Copilot matter most), SE Ranking is not the right primary tool — pair it with a Claude-native option or step up to Profound.

The platform's database scale is also worth flagging. SE Ranking maintains roughly 5.4 billion keywords and 2.9 trillion backlinks — large in absolute terms, but smaller than Semrush (26.5B) and Ahrefs (35T). For most SMB and mid-market buyers this difference is academic, but enterprise SEO teams running keyword universes in the millions may hit ceilings.

GEO-specific depth is the second tradeoff. Compared with category-native vendors:

  • No panel-derived prompt volume data of the kind Profound surfaces.
  • No "real user" UI scraping methodology like Peec's.
  • The recommendations engine for closing GEO content gaps is lighter than Athena HQ's or Frase's action layers.
  • Prompt limits are bound by the broader plan: 100 prompts daily on Core, 250 on Growth. Buyers who want to track more prompts must move up tiers or to Enterprise.

Pricing positioning is awkward at the entry level. Core at $129/month (or $103.20 billed annually) is more expensive than Otterly Lite ($29/month) and approaches Peec Starter ($95/month) — but you're paying for the SEO suite, not just the AI Visibility module. If you don't need rank tracking, content briefs, backlink analysis or website audits, the bundled price isn't favorable for GEO alone.

Who should use it

SE Ranking is the right tool for buyers who:

  • Already run their SEO program inside an SEO suite and don't want to manage two vendors. If you'd buy SE Ranking for rank tracking and competitor research anyway, the AI Visibility module is bundled at no incremental cost.
  • Are agencies serving 10+ clients and need a single multi-tenant platform that handles both traditional SEO and GEO. Growth at $223.20/month (annual) supports 30 projects and 3 manager seats — strong economics for client work.
  • Want a mature vendor with proven longevity rather than a 12–24 month-old GEO startup. SE Ranking has been profitable and growing for over a decade.
  • Need a platform with strong customer support as a hard requirement (rated 9.4/10 on G2 across 1,400+ reviews).
  • Care about ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, AI Mode and Gemini — the five engines SE Visible tracks — and are not blocked by the absence of Claude/Grok/Copilot.
  • Want Looker Studio, Matomo, GA and GSC integrations out of the box for unified reporting.

For agencies running multi-client SEO + GEO programs in the $200–500/month-per-client range, SE Ranking Growth is the most defensible bundled choice in the directory.

Who should skip it

SE Ranking is the wrong tool when:

  • You need Claude, Grok or Copilot tracking. The module doesn't cover them. Profound and Peec AI Enterprise are the alternatives.
  • You're a pure GEO buyer with no traditional SEO needs. You'll pay for the full suite when only one module is relevant. Otterly, Peec AI or Athena HQ will serve you better at lower cost.
  • You want category-native depth on LLM behavior (Prompt Volumes, panel data, conversation explorers). Profound is the answer.
  • You're a Fortune 500 enterprise with custom compliance and the budget for a dedicated AI visibility platform. SE Ranking's Enterprise tier exists, but Profound's category-native enterprise positioning is more credible.
  • You operate a content-execution-first workflow rather than a measurement-first workflow. Frase and Athena HQ are weighted more toward action.

Pricing

Pricing verified directly from SE Ranking's pricing page on May 5, 2026. Annual billing reduces all tiers by 20%.

  • Core — $129/month monthly, or $103.20/month billed annually. SEO + GEO for marketing teams. 10 projects, 1 manager seat, 2k keywords tracked, 100 prompts tracked daily, 5 domains in GEO research, 250k pages per month in audit, 25K API credits + MCP access. Includes rank tracking, keyword research, competitor research, backlink analysis, website + on-page audit, and Looker Studio / Matomo / GA / GSC integrations.
  • Growth — $279/month monthly, or $223.20/month billed annually. Automation and collaboration for multi-client SEO + GEO. 30 projects, 3 manager seats, 5k keywords, 250 prompts daily, 15 domains in GEO research, 2M pages/month audit, 100K API credits. All Core features plus historical data across project lifetime, guest links for collaboration, page changes monitoring, dedicated customer support.
  • Enterprise — Custom. Flexible terms, custom limits and pricing, full API and advanced integrations.

A 14-day free trial is offered without a credit card. The AI Visibility module sits inside the broader SE Ranking platform — there is no standalone GEO-only SKU at standard pricing. (Some sources describe a $71.20/month AI Visibility add-on; this appears to be an older pricing structure that has since been folded into the bundled Core/Growth plans. Verify current configuration before quoting.)

Models monitored

SE Visible currently tracks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Google Gemini. Claude, Grok, Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek and Meta AI are not currently supported.
